Late Night Thoughts
“Maybe you have to know the darkness before you can appreciate the light.” – Madeline L’Engle
In this series entitled, ‘Late Night Thoughts’, I’ve been digging deep and pondering the importance of light in my life, both actually and metaphorically.
We use the phrase, ‘a glimmer of hope’, and I was thinking about how positive thought can often keep us going when things are tough. On Googling the phrase, I came across the concept that a glimmer, in therapeutic practice is the opposite of a trigger, and so a glimmer seeker is one who looks for the joy in everyday moments. I had found the title for one of my paintings!
As any of you who are inclined to melancholy or depression will know, it can become habitual to think in negative ways. It has been important to me to retrain my thoughts and, instead, seek out the good in life and focus on its joy. I am now a proud Glimmer Seeker, most of the time!
